PostSubject: My TTC story   Sun Aug 22, 2010 5:26 am

Well I'm mum to beautiful Chloe but it wasn't easy getting there. I got married at 22 years old and we decided straight away we wanted a family and started trying, a year passed and nothing happened, another year passed, still nothing so we made the trip to the GP who referred us on to the specialist. Cue lots of umpleasant tests, going back and forth to the hospital and the heartache and worrying that comes with it to be told that one of my ovaries isn't working very well and I'm not producing eggs properly, but I should still be able to fall pregnant, it's just a bit harder than for a healthy woman, or we can try for treatment. After a lot of discussion we decided to let nature take it's course and make sure we were trying at the right time etc. Another 2 years passed and nothing happened so we decided to go for treatment, to cut a long story short IVF was unsuccessful and after 6 years of heartache we made the decision to stop and I came to terms with the fact that I may never be a mum.

Anyway after 7 years of marriage, it fell apart, we separated and a few months later I met Matt. We clicked straight away and I told him up front that I may never have children, as a result we were a bit lax about contraception Embarassed and hey presto 5 weeks later I was pregnant.

Taking that test 10 weeks into a relationship and seeing the words 'Pregnant' in front of me was one of the most shocking, terrifying yet happiest moments of my life. 2 years later we're still together, we love our daughter to pieces and hope to get married soon.

We decided several months ago that we'd like another one and all the old worries are coming back, part of me would love to think that I could be lucky enough to fall again quickly but deep down I know it probably won't happen. If I can't have any more then I have been truly blessed to have a beautiful healthy daughter and will always be thankful for that, but we're going to try for a while and see how it goes. Will keep you posted

Sorry waffled on a bit there, you're probably all asleep by now Sleep

Awwww, what a lovely story. I truly believe that if you take away the worrying of ttc then you will fall.

I got a bit obsessed with it this time around and actually fell pregnant after the time I thought I had ov'd and, hey presto, it happened.

But, I also had the same thoughts as you, I was so lucky to have Aimee that if she was my only one then I would be more than happy xx

Aw Mandy I really hope you are lucky and conceive quickly again.

Well me and hubby got married and neither of us wanted children (hubby has a daughter from a one night stand, things are very strained so it put us both off) but then one day we were walking our dog and he just said shall we have our own baby Shocked I said erm no!! I don't want children but I'll think about it. I thought long and hard and decided that yes I would like my own baby, so we decided to start ttc. I naively though it would be quick, maybe be a couple of months Rolling Eyes Well 6 months went by, 12 months, 18 months then 2 years, it was awful seeing pregnant woman and thinking it'll never happen to me. I decided that I would make an appointment with the dr and see if we needed some tests done. In the meantime we were having a new bathroom fitted and when clearing it all out I found a pg test, it was due to expire the following month so though soD IT I might as well use it before I throw it away, and well it was a BFP!! Hubby didn't have a clue I was testing and was downstairs, so I shouted him to come up and came rushing up thinking something had happened to the bathroom, I held the test up and the first words he said were 'fuck off' Rolling Eyes Laughing he couldn't believe it either and made me do another 10 yes 10 tests before he believed it Laughing I had a tough first few weeks with bleeding and had a threatened miscarriage at 9 weeks and thought we had lost her Crying or Very sad
She is my world and after she was about 9 months old I started to want another, in fact I was desparate for another and it was starting to take over again, hubby wasn't keen though Crying or Very sad Anyway, after getting carried away just the once I'm obviously pg again Very Happy

They are great ttc stories!

I have been with my OH for 5 1/2 years, i knew when i met him he had had a vasectomy, and that he had also had 1 still born son and another who died after 3 days in NICU (he is 25 years older than me!). i didnt realise at the time it would get as serious as getting married or thinking about children. My sis my niece in october and we decided in the march that we wanted to have our own...so OH had his vasectomy reversal in may last year and we have been trying for 14 months with no luck yet. The op was successful and although OH's last semen analysis was low count it was good quality. so we keep trying and hope fore the best!

What a story Mandy obviously meant to be. Here is my ttc story.

I fell pregnant with my son back in 1999 after finishing college, it was the 1st month of being back with my now ex that it happened and we were using the withdrawal method. Never crossed my mind about falling pregnant - guess i was a naive 19 year old then though, Jack was born June 2000. Stayed with my ex on and off for a few years before splitting for good. I then had a few years of different boyfriends before in Septmeber 2007 I met my now o/h in a night club, by December 2007 I knew i wanted a baby with him - a complete turn around for someone who was adamant that 1 was enough. So from then on we tried and tried until July 2009 where we had had enough and it obviously wasnt happening. Went to the docs and had all the basic tests done which came back normal so we then got referred to the infertility clinic , had our 1st appointment in August '09. They offerered me a lap and dye test which puts dye through your tubes to see if they are open and a hysteroscopy which looks in the uterus for problems. So I agreed and had that done in October '09, when I came round they told me both tubes were blocked, swollen and had fluid in them, surgeon said most likely would need ivf to become pregnant. Then had to wait till January '10 preparing myself that I would probably end up with no tubes and never be able to conceive naturally again, saw my consultant who said he would like to perform another lap and dye and have a closer look at my tubes to see if they were repairable. If they werent then i gave my permission and signed the consent form for a bilateral salpinectomy (removal of both fallopian tubes) to be done there and then. Finally got a op date of March '10 when i came round that time i wa told that my consultant had managed to unblock both tubes and we could carry on trying Very Happy:D We couldnt believe it , we were so happy.
So that brings us back to ttc again, 1st 2 months after the op (April and May) we didnt have any luck but in June we finally got our bfp, we were ecstatic and told my parents and our close friends but then at 5w+3 I started bleeding and had a miscarriage. We decided we both didnt want to wait so as soon as the bleeding stopped we started trying again and i ovulated as normal . Fast forward 2 weeks (July) and I just had a feeling i was pregnant again and I was , again felt incredibly blessed but were very cautious this time and didnt tell a soul. But that pregnancy wasnt to be either started getting brown discharge and then miscarried again at 5w+4, found it strangely easier to deal with than the 1st because we were never as excited. Went to the doctors who thinks it was bad luck but if it happens again has said he will refer us to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, really am hoping there is nothing else wrong with me . So right now we are at ovulation again and we are trying again. Hoping for 3rd time lucky

Claire ..... Hopefully you managed to make it to the end without nodding off lol

I have to agree with Lisa, i was ttc with my ex for 7 years had all the tests and told i would never conceive naturally, we split,
I got some my Oh and within 2 1/2 years of ttc i fell pregnant only for it to end in m/c, we decided as i was full of myself at that time to try agsin, snd within 2 weeks i fell pregnant with Beth, and have now fell pregnant again, although we have been ttc since having Beth, we got our 3rd BFP thursday, just hoping for a sticky bean,
It must be true that your only compatible with certain people, as my ex also went on to have a healthy baby with his now partner,
Things always seem to turn out right in the end x

Aww everyone's stories are so moving. I have been ttc number 1 since coming off the pill in January this year. Rather naively I guess I thought it would happen quickly as we had delayed trying due to my illness, but this has not been the case sadly. I get myself so stressed out each month and symptom spot like mad. I am due to get day 21 bloods done on friday. I know it is early days and my gp thinks its too early to worry but I just get the feeling something isn't right as I had gynae problems in the past so am debating going for a private ultrasound if only for reassurance and piece of mind.

Think we have missed ov this month by a few days so not holding out much hope this month maybe next months hols will be a babymoon.xxx

Sending you all baby dust xxx

I have just read all your stories, they are so moving! your situation was similar to my experience I was trying for a baby with my ex for 21/2 years and no luck, then was pregnant with my o/h almost intsantly (within 3 months of being together). Like they say u must be more compatable with some more that other, and it was obviously meant to be, least thats my philiosphy.
I'm tcc now again for my 2nd but isnt happening for me at the moment gonna go back to my gp and see if he can offer me some treatments to assist the process, It must be so heartbreaking to miscarry, getting your hopes up and then having it all taken away. I was so nervous with my first as my doc told me to be cautious as sufferers of pcos have a 50 % more of miscarrying, but with luck I had a fairly normal/healthy pregancy and went on to have a beautiful baby boy. I hope I am able to have others in the future but as my condition has worsened don't think its going to run smoothly and like u said about the child you have, I am truley blessed with the one I have and lucky to be a mother.
just gotta keep going at it ... & keep enjoying it ;-) xx
